YAEL HARNIK
Split
Cotton velvet, indigo
Dimensions: 88x618cm
Year: 2021
A single horizontal line unraveled throughout the six meter velvet, so as to explore the action of making a mark by subtraction. This work reveals the passage of time as an ongoing perceptive action. The painstaking repetitive action brings about a temporal routine exposed in the rhythm of the labor as well as in its material trace. Split refers to the second day of creation as described in the book of Genesis.
